TmaxSoft Japan Participates in Red Hat OSS Integration Center

―― Developing Hybrid Open Cloud Environments free from vendor lock-in by using Tibero, an Oracle Compatible RDBMS ――

TmaxSoft Japan (CEO: Hayazumi Mitsuyoshi, HQ: Tokyo Minato District) announced its participation in the Red Hat OSS Integration Center (OSS IC). In September of 2013, Red Hat (CEO: Hirokawa Yuzi, HQ: Tokyo Shibuya District) opened the OSS IC to provide support to companies migrating to a new IT infrastructure and cloud environment such as OpenStack. Members of the OSS IC include major Japanese hardware, software, and system integration companies. TmaxSoft Japan is the 46th member of the OSS IC.

In Japan, demand is increasing for more efficient methods to implement a back-end system with a front end system, which has been the focus of recent IT investments.

In response to this demand, Red Hat established the OSS Integration Center to facilitate the migration of client systems to new IT infrastructures and cloud environments that utilize open source software such as JBoss middleware and Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS. Working with partner companies, the OSS IC prepares existing client company systems for cloud under the banner of “IT modernization”. Through the OSS IC, Red Hat has been involved in over 60 projects with its partner companies.

As a new partner, TmaxSoft contributes to the implementation of low-cost open platforms that prevent vendor lock-in by combining Tibero, an Oracle compatible RDBMS that provides database infrastructure of large-scale enterprise systems, with Red Hat JBoss Web Server, which supports large-scale web sites and light-weight web applications.

TmaxSoft Japan’s Hayazumi Mitsuyoshi stated, “It is an honor to be a partner of the Red Hat OSS Integration Center. Since the establishment of TmaxSoft Japan in July 2000, TmaxSoft has released products, such as OpenFrame, a rehosting solution, with the motto of ‘Redeveloping Japan’s IT infrastructure by using open systems as the foundation.' We are happy that Tibero, which was released in Japan in February 2012, is recognized as a suitable solution for Red Hat’s business goals. We will strive to continuously build and expand open systems through our affiliation with Red Hat.”

By cooperating with Red Hat, TmaxSoft plans to provide workshops, seminars, consultations, and visits, as well as provide detailed migration and technical support to clients interested in migrating current systems to an open environment at an affordable cost

Official Support from Red Hat

Red Hat welcomes TmaxSoft Japan’s participation in the OSS IC. Red Hat’s OSS IC has built an environment suitable for open and cloud environments through IT modernization including IaaS, PaaS, application programs, development, and maintenance. This reduces operating costs as well as prevents vendor lock-in. This freedom allows companies to quickly respond to changes in the management environment and effectively utilize existing assets. Furthermore, by building a virtual database using Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization, we are realizing the last mile of IT modernization, and we believe that TmaxSoft Japan’s Tibero will be a strategically important product.”

Overview of Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), Tibero RDBMS

Since its release in 2003, Tibero RDBMS has been adopted by numerous corporations, especially in the Korean public sector. With its latest release, Tibero RDBMS 5.0, over 900 companies have adopted Tibero RDBMS. In Japan, Tibero RDBMS 5.0 was released in February 2012. It contains RDBMS functionality that meets standard SQL specifications and a clustering function (TAC = Tibero Active Clustering). Tibero RDBMS is compatible with Oracle’s unique functions such as the RAC function, PL/SQL function, and data read consistency. Tibero’s strongest point is its high level of compatibility with Oracle DB. This compatibility allows easy migration of existing application assets without modifying programs. TmaxData, the maker of Tibero RDBMS, is focused on R&D to release products that utilize in-memory database, improve compatibility with Oracle DB, Big Data, etc. Tibero RDBMS is receiving greater attention as the next generation Big Data infrastructure.

Week 1: RDBMS (Relational DataBase Management System)

Processes data in table format and manage the database connected to a table. It is usually managed using SQL.

Week 2: SQL (Structured Query Language)

Internationally standardized query language for processing and defining data in a RDBMS. Many RDBMSs add features to the standard SQL and independently extend SQL.

Week 3: RAC (Oracle Real Application Clusters)

Structure for the load balancing type cluster configuration implemented in Oracle DB. The number of replications has increased to improve availability and the transaction performance of the entire database has increased by using load balancing.

Week 4: PL/SQL (Procedural Language Extensions to SQL)

Programming language developed by Oracle, which independently extends SQL. Procedural programming can be run by adding PL/SQL to SQL.
